The National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) is the primary comprehensive exam required by the majority of states to gain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) depending on the state one is licensed in. The exam is developed by the NCLEX Examination Committee (NEC) and administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. The board has released the NCLEX-PN Test Plan which will go in to effect in April 2026.
